Authentic Designer Fashion

Friday, June 19th, 2009

With fall right around the corner, there are some exciting trends to watch. I really like the chunky, crafty knits coming from Europe (Missoni). Lots of feminine looks in blouses (Pringle of Scotland), printed dresses hitting above the knee (Lanvin and Jason Wu), and suits (Chanel and Max Mara). Look for interesting coats with unexpected shapes and features (Calvin Klein and Chloe). I also like the cropped trousers (Calvin Klein and Etro). Check out New York designer, Julian Louie’s second collection – really impressive.  I love the sculptural qualities. Take a look and see what you think.

But these shades are perfect for the rockstar/ambassador/a-lister/mom-on-the-go. Tom Ford’s sunglasses present a hip union of the aviator and the shield sunglass styles. The dark lenses will protect you from the sun and from nosy folks checking you out- roll your eyes freely at all who annoy you. The oversize frames scream high fashion, the thin black plastic rim walks the line between bad-girl and chic. What more could you ask for from designer sunglasses? Perhaps something less than the designer price tag?

According to the actor, no. “I’m not about to become a brand — I won’t be releasing an album, perfume and knickers next year,” she notes. “Because of my job, people are willing to invest in the business, but my sister’s an incredible designer, and it’s a great opportunity for me to work with her.” Based on the label itself – which is devoid of either sister’s name and named, instead, for Sienna’s date of birth – this could well be true. “I loved the way Martin Margiela uses numbers. People wanted us to put the line in our names, but we wanted it to be more abstract.”

My college life

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

As a result, college life let me become much riper. In addition, when I was in high school, teachers would drive me to study but things have changed now.If I don’t want to study ,nobody will care, it’s just my own business. So I can say it is the college life that let me learn how to study. If I feel free, I can apply for a part-time job. It help me accumulate practical experience which is important in the future.
High school life is rewarding. When I began my college school life ,I felt it was too hard from high school life.Above all, there are varieties of activities on the school campus. They excite our enthusiasm to take part in them. After the extracurricular activities,we can benefit much from them because they have  broaden our horizons. Besides,we hve to learn how to look after ourselves. When I was in high school , I lived with my parents and they took perfect and minute care of me. But now, I have been in a new place, if I still depend on others, I think I will never adapt myself to the new surroundings.
All in all, college life is rewarding for me.
Our bodies use up enormous amounts of vitamins and minerals when we experience stress. This can leave us tired, run down, irritable and less able to deal with our responsibilities. Vitamins C and B complex, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc are the hardest hit nutrients. These can be restored through a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy products, nuts, yeast, brown rice, fish, liver, kelp and eggs. Food to avoid when stressed include tea, coffee, cakes, biscuits, soft drinks, chocolate and white bread. When we experience extreme feelings of stress, it is often because we are having extreme thoughts. Try to think realistically about what is making you feel this way. How likely is it to happen? Ask what is the worst possible outcome of this situation? Consider how this would affect the scheme of things. Look at the big picture. We can reduce the amount of stress by using our time and energy efficiently. A realistic list of things to do for the day is a good start. Setting priorities and learning to slow down are essential ingredients in reducing your level of stress.

Work/School/Life Balance

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

It’s very difficult to enjoy your very last week of summer school when it seems like it will never end.

One of the things you’ll constantly hear at U of I is that as a college student, you are now independent. You must wisely balance work, your education, and take some time out for yourself. My advice to you is: don’t procrastinate with schoolwork like I did . . .think ahead, because as of now, I’m feeling a late night of studying. Wish me luck! Hopefully all turns well.

What I like about U of I is that we get to do this kind of stuff regularly: become more aware of rising issues in our profession, however, it WAS a pain! I had a lab exam that I had to make up on Wednesday, but I never got anytime to study because I worked a 12 hour day on Tuesday. And finally this morning, I woke up at 8 am, hoping to get some studying done for my final exam tomorrow morning before going off to work again, and yet I lack the motivation. This week has been hectic, to say the least. I traveled to Newyork last weekend for a leadership adventure sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers, and though it was indeed an adventure, in the back of my head stood the pillar of work I would have to climb before I could triumphantly proclaim: “I AM DONE WITH SUMMER SCHOOL.” This past Monday, I had two 30 minute presentations, discussing Gap’s inventory control systems and differences in IASB and FASB accounting for purchased in-process R&D.

I happen to work off-campus and on-campus. If you have a car, off-campus offers a greater selection of jobs. But there is a virtual job board where you can find listings for on-campus jobs. I found that it was much easier to get to work when I was on-campus because . . .well, I was already on-campus. One unique thing you’ll discover about the U of I, is that we are a college town, and many of the business surrounding the campus and even on-campus depend on student workers to operate. You shouldn’t have a problem finding a job!Like you’ll hear often: being a student takes a lot of balance. I obviously will not be able to work the 12 hour days that I have been, but during the school year I am able to work 20 or so hours a week, maintain a social life, and remain a good student.
